Considerate Constructors Shaping Neath Port Talbot Landscape

25 May 2011

The Harbour Way Peripheral Distribution Road may be helping to put Neath Port Talbot on the map, but it’s also improving the image of construction, after registering with the “Considerate Constructors Scheme”.

Over the next two years, the £107m link road between the M4 and the town’s docks will be monitored by an experienced industry professional, making sure everything possible is done to reduce any negative impact the works could have on the town.

The scheme will actively seek to:

  • Minimise any disturbance or negative impact caused by construction activity to any immediate neighbourhoods and communities, including noise, dirt, dust, parking, behaviour, inconvenience or any other inconsiderate practice
  • Encourage even higher levels of consideration towards all those who construction activity affects
  • Recognise and reward constructors’ commitments to raise standards of site management, safety and environmental awareness beyond statutory requirements.

Project Manager (Costain), John Skentelbery:

“As a company, we set ourselves high standards and targets to work to on a daily basis, priding ourselves on our safety and work ethos.  Registering for this scheme ensures that we strive to manage the interface with the local community to the best of our ability, which is something that the residents of Neath Port Talbot deserve from us.”
