Costain Meet Local Councillors

26 January 2011

Local councillors from Margam, Taibach and Port Talbot paid a visit to the new visitor centre at Costain’s local headquarters on North Dock Road recently.

Costain has been appointed as the contractor to build the last £107 million phase of the Peripheral Distributor Road, to be known as Harbour Way.

“Costain is keen to develop close links with the communities that the new road runs through,” said Project Manager, John Skentelbery.

“Keeping the residents of Margam, Taibach and Port Talbot informed is a priority for us. We have opened up a purpose built visitor centre at the site offices where residents can come along to see an exhibition of the route of the new road. They can also see a DVD virtual flythrough showing the whole length of the road from its start on the Dock Road to a new junction which meets the A48 in Margam.

“We are pleased to invite all the local councillors to regular meetings, not only giving us the chance to update them on progress but creating an opportunity for them to raise any local issues with us,” he added.

“Any problems can then be quickly resolved.”

At the meeting, Council Leader, Ali Thomas, thanked Costain for a very informative update saying he looked forward to regular meetings and was grateful Costain was keeping local councillors up to date with the development and for listening to any problems that might arise.”
