Costain Raising Money For Charity

11 May 2011

Several staff members at Costain, the contractors behind the new Harbour Way link road in Port Talbot, are getting ready to undertake the biggest challenge of their lives all in the name of charity.

This weekend, the group of 8 will try to climb the three tallest mountains in the UK in under 24 hours for the COINS Foundation.  The ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ will see them pitted against other teams from within the construction industry in a race to see who can finish first.

Starting at Ben Nevis in Scotland, they’ll move on to Scafell Pike in Cumbria and finish at Snowdon, having reached a combined height of 3407m.

Project Manager: John Skentelbery:

“Raising money for charity has always been of great importance to Costain.  Our 8 members of staff taking part in this years ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ have proven great determination and dedication already, having undertaken many hours of training in preparation.  I wish them all the best and look forward to congratulating them on the finish line.”

Team Member: Haydn Roberts:

We are always looking for innovative ways to raise money for charity.  After months of training locally, we’re now all looking forward to scaling the mountains.  The COINS Foundation is such a worthy cause and works towards building communities where no member is excluded because of health, impairment, education or poverty.  Every penny that they are given is invested towards someone’s future, someone who hasn’t had the privileges and benefits most of us are lucky to have.”
