Harbour Way Supporting Grass Roots Sports Across Neath Port Talbot

9 June 2011

Costain, the contractors behind the new Harbour Way link road in Port Talbot, have been getting into the heart of the community, by giving a helping hand to local groups and charities.

Currently working on the £107m dual carriageway, that will link the M4 motorway to the town’s harbour side, the company are proving that they’re dedicated to investing in the future of the town and its residents through their sponsorship programme.

Many sporting teams have already benefitted, including Trefelin AFC with help to create their brand new spectator stand and the Aberavon Wizards who have devised a  competitive sports league, encouraging school pupils to take part in sports.

John Skentelbery, Project Manager for Costain:

“Costain are working with Neath Port Talbot Council to help secure the future of the County Borough.  This isn’t just through building the new road, but by investing in the people of the town and their futures.  Port Talbot is a town built on a passion for sport and it is a pleasure for us to be involved in some rather innovative projects which will benefit so many people.”

Chris Davies, Captain of Aberavon Wizards:

“Regular competitive sport in Port Talbot schools was nonexistent, but with the creation of the competitive league sponsored by Costain, this has been changed.  Not only has it shaped schools competitively, but also given children sporting opportunities, encourages sports participation and no doubt developed children’s skills”

If you are in a community group and would like to be considered for sponsorship, send your applications to Ieuan Davies, Community Relations Manager, Costain, North Bank Road, Port Talbot, or email ieuan.davies@costain.com
