Local Councillors Brought Up To Speed on New Road
5 October 2011
Port Talbot councillors have been given a guided tour of the new £107m road, Harbour Way, currently being built in the town.
Several members enjoyed a visit to site so they could see for themselves just how fast the work is progressing on the three year project.
The dual carriageway, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Welsh Government, is due to open towards the end of 2013, providing a vital link from the docks to the M4 motorway.
Rhys Griffith, Harbour Way Project Manager for Neath Port Talbot Council:
“Regular contact with the locally elected members of the County Borough is important, the visits give them a real understanding of the work that is being undertaken on the project which they use it to inform and update members of the community “
Councillor John Rogers of Taibach ward:
“It was a well worthwhile visit, giving a good insight into the progress being made.
“Through these meetings, the local councillors are being kept fully up to date.
